I love easy weeknight meals. I also love comfort food that just takes you back in time and makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. And these “Tastee” loose meat sandwiches are the perfect solution for a chilly weekday. In just a few minutes, using some condiments and spices you probably already have in your fridge and pantry, you’ll love this delicious recipe and how quickly it goes together.

To start these loose meat sandwiches, you’ll want one diced onion and 5 pounds of ground beef. Now, this will serve 25, which makes it perfect for leftovers or for a big game party, or even if you’ve got a lot of mouths to feed. However, if you don’t need quite as many, simply divide the recipe a little bit to make it suit your needs. Put these in a large pot that works well for wet cooking– you’ll be adding some liquids to this recipe.

These

Next, add half a cup of ketchup, a tablespoon of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of accent (this is essentially your good ol’ fashioned salt substitute or MSG– if you’re MSG-free, replace this with just 1 teaspoon your seasoning of choice), and 1 teaspoon each of salt, pepper, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Finally, pour in a cup of water.

These

Cook over medium heat, stirring often until the meat is cooked through. Once your meat is totally cooked through, you’re ready to serve these yummy loose meat sandwiches– top them with cheese, or bacon, or serve them as-is without any toppings.

Because this recipe makes about 25 1/5th pounder sandwiches, you could make a big pot of this for gameday, buy some buns or rolls, and serve it to the crowd. Of course, the meat keeps pretty well in the fridge so it’s the perfect option if you’re a fan of leftovers for lunches the next day. Still a touch too much meat for your family? Divide the recipe, or add a few cans of beans and a couple of cans of diced tomatoes for a super quick and easy meaty chili recipe.

  4. 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  5. 2 tsp accent (MSG, Salt substitute)
  6. 1 tsp salt
  7. 1 tsp pepper
  8. 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  9. 1 tsp mustard
  10. 1 C water
Instructions
  1. In a large pot, combine all ingredients, stirring until well-combined.
  2. Over medium heat, cook until beef is browned, stirring often.
  3. Serve on buns or rolls, with or without bacon, cheese, or other sandwich toppings.
Notes
  1. To divide this recipe to feed 5, use 1 pound of meat and divide all seasonings and additional ingredients by 4 (so, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 cup water, etc to 1 pound of meat). That gets it pretty close to the original seasoning ratio, and still tastes delicious!
