Back to school means time to get back in the swing of things… and sometimes that can be a struggle! There’s something seriously divine about biting into a juicy, delicious cheeseburger. My family is pretty serious about our beef and our cheeseburgers– every year, we even buy an entire cow. That’s how much we really, really like burgers. But burgers are just a pain in the booty to make for tailgating and Big Game parties. Getting it just how everyone likes it, making the perfect patty, standing over the grill… that’s not how I want to spend my game time events. That’s why these loaded cheeseburger nachos are perfect. They totally keep the party going, and they have all of the best parts of a cheeseburger– beef, bacon, fries, and delicious ketchup. You can’t go wrong with them!

Car-mels? Care-a-mels? It’s been a pretty consistent argument in this household since we first started making the sweet treats… you’ll hear someone sneak into the fridge and grab a homemade caramel, only to hear “You know they’re called care-a-mels, right?!” Our family has a history of bickering over the pronunciation of words that can be pronounced either way, usually for the sole purpose of annoying each other to bits. But either way you pronounce it, these homemade caramels are simple to make, and the cleanup? It’s just as easy.

After yet another trip to to the beach without a beach body this year, I’ve been feeling like I need to make a change. While yes, I know a beach body isn’t the key to everything, I also feel like I’ve been neglecting my needs a little bit lately– I haven’t been watching what I eat, I’ve been snacking a lot, and I haven’t been drinking much water. With the fact that I don’t remember the last time I took exercising seriously, I’m just feeling like some change is due. Do you ever feel that way, like it’s time to make some changes? Well, I’ve broken my plans down into some manageable steps, and it starts with showing you how to be sure you’re drinking enough water!

I cannot believe that it’s time for back to school shopping already, but it is. School is just around the corner, and I have to admit, I’m so not prepared. I mean, as moms, we can go through the supply checklist and make sure we have everything, we can get all of the super cute back to school clothes for our kiddos, and we can even input all of the important dates into our digital calendars, but really, there’s always this certain degree of “I’m SO not ready” that I feel when it comes to back to school… can you relate? So, when shopping for back to school supplies, I had to make sure that I was ready for back-to-school, too.
When it comes time for back to school shopping, we have to look out for our own needs as moms, too. After all, we don’t come with a back-to-school supply list, do we? So, grab your favorite mom bag (I dig a backpack), and let’s get packing!

Ugh. Afternoon slump. Come on, busy moms, you know what I’m talking about… that moment between lunch and dinner when you hit a wall. It’s the time when you think “If I have to stay awake for one more baseball/dance/soccer/cheer practice I’m going to cry.” It’s when you have that urge to say “forget everything… I’m taking a nap.” I get it. We’re all trying to be supermom. And afternoon slump? It’s not helping us get there, is it? A lot of times, I turn to snacks to get me out of that slump… after all, I can’t be dozing off if I’m eating, can I? And it’s during that time that I turn to old cravings like chocolate. But guess what, supermom? I’ve found a solution that banishes afternoon fatigue AND satisfies your munchy little cravings. I promise you’re going to love it… 4 great mini smoothie bowls for that time between lunch and dinner, when you want to snack, but don’t want a meal, and definitely want more energy to finish out your long, never-say-stop day.

I remember it like it was yesterday… I was pushing the cart through Walmart, smiling at my sweet baby boy, when it happened. He puked. All over him, all over me, all over everywhere. While I often brought a change of clothes for him in the diaper bag (just in case!), I didn’t happen to bring any change of clothes for me. It meant that while he was nice and clean, I wash pushing the cart through the rest of Walmart with a lovely splatter all over my shirt. Yuck.

I love a great sesame chicken from my favorite Asian restaurant here locally. It’s just good stuff, but sometimes I need a little shake-up from the norm (and who wants to order takeout ALL the time?). So, I decided that I’d try an easy sesame chicken sauce over shrimp, and you know what? It’s SO easy to make the sesame shrimp that it takes less time than ordering and waiting for delivery, making it the perfect weeknight solution.

As a mom, I’m always running out of things at the most inconvenient times…. My hair tie snaps on the hottest day of the year. I can never find the single sock that’s clean when we’re running late for school. No matter how many nail clippers I buy, within 6 months, they’ve all gone missing again. And it never fails, whenever I need gum, I’m always out, or worse, there’s that one crumpled piece in the bottom of my bag, covered in cracker crumbs and loose hair. Ew. Why is it so hard to remember to re-stock on these things before they’re gone?

Breakfast. It’s arguably the busiest meal of the day. I haven’t been shy in sharing about my struggle to get a daily breakfast in, and while I’ve found some solutions to keep me going, I like to shake up the breakfast routine sometimes. I’ve been loving smoothies, but I have to admit that sometimes I drink them so fast, that I feel like I missed breakfast altogether, and I don’t always feel satisfied. Then, when I started hearing a little bit about Smoothie Bowls on Instagram, I started to wonder what the big deal was… I mean, it was just a smoothie poured into a bowl, right? Well, kind of. It’s a smoothie in a bowl, sure, but it’s topped with delicious things– like nuts, fruits, seeds, and more– that are totally spoonable, elevating your morning smoothie to something of beauty, but also of great flavor.
