Splish Splash: 5 Ways to Make Bathtime Fun Again!

End the bathtime fights by making bathtime a ton of fun for your child! They'll love these ideas, and beg to get all scrubbed clean! | Mom Hacks | Life Hack | Parenting |

Sometimes, bathtime is awesome. Sometimes, it’s a fight… depending on the type of child you have, you may be looking for tons of new bathtime ideas to keep their love of bathtime fresh, or you may be seeking out ways just to get them in the tub. While a new study just said that most kids only need to bathe a couple of times a week before they hit puberty, bathtime can be a source of plenty of fun (and some relaxation before bed). Here are 5 fun bath ideas for kids!

Bathtime In the Dark
One bath idea for kids to keep things fresh and fun is to turn off the lights. Use battery powered candles on the counter or toss glow sticks into the bathtub. If this is a favorite idea, add some glow in the dark stars to the ceiling and make sure they’re fully “charged up” with light before bathtime, and consider investing in a waterproof flashlight for more bath fun.

Paint the Walls
Plenty of stores now sell bathtime paint soap, which allow kids to fingerpaint, then wash it right off. A little bit of paint that doubles as soap allows kids to engage in messy play in the act of getting clean, making it a bath fun win for everyone!

Color Mixup
Make bathtime an educational experience– use bath color tabs and small bowls to mix colors! Ask your child what they think certain colors will make in a bowl. “What do you think red and blue will look like?” Then, try it and see! At the end, let your child pick their favorite color combo to color the bath, and dump the excess water (check the back of the package to confirm the maximum amount of tabs that you can use in a single bath before adding any directly to the water).

Float or Sink?
Continuing on educational options, give your child two choices– will this item float, or will it sink? Find a variety of different water-safe items, like a toy car, a ball, a rubber duck, a washcloth, or other items that might work well, and hypothesize, then drop it in and see what happens.

Dirty, Then Clean
Find a nice patch of dirt in your yard, then spray it down with a hose. Put your child in their rattiest play clothes, and send them out for a good roll in the mud. This messy play is great for brain development, and could even help with immune health, so encourage them to get creative with mud pies and messy fun, then hose them off. Toss the clothes into a laundry bin, and carry them to the tub for a nice, warm bath to scrub them clean. Challenge them to get every speck of dirt off, and just enjoy the process… it’s a great compromise to get dirty, then to clean up.
