Hello, Seafood! This easy sesame shrimp is a great Asian-inspired weeknight meal, and it's so simple to make. If you love shrimp, you're going to love this sesame shrimp recipe! #ShrimpItUp [ad]

I love a great sesame chicken from my favorite Asian restaurant here locally. It’s just good stuff, but sometimes I need a little shake-up from the norm (and who wants to order takeout ALL the time?). So, I decided that I’d try an easy sesame chicken sauce over shrimp, and you know what? It’s SO easy to make the sesame shrimp that it takes less time than ordering and waiting for delivery, making it the perfect weeknight solution.

One thing I love to do is speed up the process with SeaPak® shrimp. You might not think to look for high-quality, delicious seafood in the freezer section of your local Walmart, but trust me, SeaPak® has some amazing shrimp options over there that taste great! Right now, you may find some of the selection in a Lent endcap freezer, but you’ll find a wider selection in the “fish” section of the freezers!

SeaPak Party Size Popcorn Shrimp is perfect for this recipe because you can prepare the sesame shrimp sauce while the shrimp gets crisp in the oven– it’s pre-breaded, so all you have to do is bake it and toss it with the sauce, and you’ve got great flavor and texture! I also love the SeaPak shrimp spring rolls for a great side dish! Plus, right now you can get $0.75 off any SeaPak product!

To make the sauce, grab a skillet on the stove on medium heat. Start by putting in 2 Tablespoons of sesame oil, 1 Cup of low-sodium soy sauce (you’ll want the low sodium option here because it does taste a little bit too salty with the regular version, trust me), and 1/2 cup rice vinegar. Once you’ve added those, it’s time to combine some seasonings, too… start with 2 Tbsp crushed dried garlic, and 1 Tbsp onion flakes. Add in 1 Tbsp of Sriracha– omit this if you don’t want any spice, or add up to 1/4 Cup if you want it really spicy.

You’ll want to also add 2 Tablespoons of sugar and 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch. The cornstarch will act as a thickener for the sauce, which you’ll boil over medium heat until the sauce is nice and thick, and gets a deeper color– make sure to stir constantly.

Served over rice, this sesame shrimp is absolutely delightful, and since you make the sauce in the short time it takes the SeaPak popcorn shrimp to cook in the oven, it’s a great weeknight meal the whole family will love!

My family loved this Asian-inspired meal that tastes like the great takeout we love, but uses shrimp for a unique twist. But you can do so much with the Party Size Popcorn Shrimp from SeaPak, like popping it plain, or enjoying it over a salad! We also love to make shrimp tacos with it… it’s delicious any way you serve it.
