You know when you’re walking through a store and you see something and think “I need that.”? It happens to me all the time. Usually, I can silence that inner voice that says “BUY IT!” but with this one? No. I had to give in this wooden letter. When it comes to easy DIYs, you really can’t beat this one. It’s so simple. Your floral monogram can be ready to hang in about the time that it takes you to watch an episode of This Is Us. Or, you know, a show where you aren’t too busy sobbing to craft… but still. Timewise, it’s do-able to make this DIY Wreath in the length of a TV episode.

To make this ombre flower monogram, you simply need felt in several shades of a color you love (I went with purple), something to trace a small circle with, scissors, hot glue, and of course, this monogram letter. I found mine at Target, but there are similar ones available on Amazon.

From there, trace and cut out each of your circles. I found for a 6-inch S cutout, I needed about 30 circles in each of my 4 colors (so, roughly 120 circles total), but depending on your letter or shape and the number of colors you use, you may need more or you may need fewer circles. I used a 1 ½ inch lid to cut my circles, but you can actually even find pre-cut felt circles on Amazon if you want to do a multicolored DIY wreath!

To create your project, simply fold each circle into a taco (all DIY projects are better with tacos, right?!), then place a thin bead of hot glue along the fold and roll your taco into a rose shape. I liked to use a clothespin to hold my flowers closed until the glue was dry. Simply clip it on, then remove a few seconds later when the glue has dried.

When you’ve formed all of your flowers from your circles, then all you have to do is glue your flowers onto your letter! You’ll want to make them relatively snug so they bunch up like a cluster of flowers and so you don’t see the wood underneath and between them. I decided to draw a thin line with pencil to show when the colors needed to bleed into each other (since I had 4 different colors to fit on my letter), so I encourage you to divide out the size of your letter with the number of colors you have to make sure you’re able to fit it all on. Let everything dry– with hot glue, it really doesn’t take more than a few seconds to set and not much longer to dry, so you can even be good to hang your letter up within minutes of finishing the project.

Once it’s dry, you can hang it up! The thing about this project is, it’s easy and quick but it doesn’t look easy and quick. This ombre floral monogram will impress anyone who sees it, but it will also be one you can tackle quickly, so you aren’t facing “unfinished project guilt,” where you buy the supplies and then stash the project in your closet, halfway finished, because it just took more time than you had to devote to it. This project is guilt-free– you’ll easily be able to finish it in an evening or an episode and move on to the next fun game.
